What distinguishes the best leaders from the rest, according to Amandine Chizelle, CEO of JLL BeLux.
On the occasion of March 8th, International Women’s Rights Day, we sat down with Amandine Chizelle, CEO of JLL BeLux, Head of Project & Development Services and Managing Director of Tétris BeLux. What she shared deserves to be heard well beyond the real estate industry.
Dreaming big: a method, not just an ideal
In strategic leadership theory, a leader is not defined solely by their ability to manage a team or hit operational targets. What truly sets a great leader apart is the capacity to formulate a vision and project their organisation, or their own career, into a future they actively build rather than simply endure.
Amandine embodies this approach with disarming clarity. For her, ambition has nothing to do with ego. It is a responsibility. The responsibility of knowing where you are going, so you can bring others along with you. It is in this spirit that she offers a piece of advice that is simple on the surface, yet profound in its implications:
“Dream Big. Set your ambitions, define your trajectory and never lose sight of where you are headed.”
“Dreaming big” is not an invitation to excess. It is a method. Defining an ambitious vision means giving yourself the means to identify the steps that lead there, to make consistent decisions along the way, and to avoid being derailed by the turbulence of day-to-day life. Without a direction, there is no trajectory. And without a trajectory, every decision becomes an improvisation.
Leadership measured by those you lift up
What strikes you in Amandine’s words is the complete absence of vanity. She does not talk about her titles. She talks about people. About those she managed to bring along with her, who in turn took on responsibilities of their own.
For her, the true pride of a career is not measured by the height of the position reached, but by the number of people who grew alongside her. It is this vision of leadership, demanding, caring and collective, that she sums up as follows:
“I strongly believe in positive leadership. Positivity is contagious.”
A philosophy that, on this March 8th, resonates well beyond the world of real estate.
What we observe at Kingsley
The profiles that access leadership positions in real estate do not stand out solely for their technical expertise. They distinguish themselves through their ability to define a trajectory, make decisions under uncertainty and embody a clear vision for their teams. Amandine’s journey is a concrete illustration of this.
